Clear your Criminal Record
You May Be Able to Remove Crimes from Your Permanent Record
There are things you can do to clear your criminal record. There are a couple of things. The first thing is an expungement. If you have never been to prison, then you're eligible to get an expungement. What does that mean? An expungment is when you ask the court to clear your record by means of a motion filed on your behalf.
As long as you're not on probation and as long as you don't have another crime or case pending, you're eligible to have your record expunged. You need to complete probation from that point. Only then you can say, " No, I have never been convicted of a crime." However, if you're going to get a job with the State government or if you're going to get licensing by the state, you still have to divulge that you were convicted of a crime.
