Domestic Violence Charges
Talk Only with an Attorney if You Have Been Charged with Domestic Violence.
Domestic violence means you're involved with the "victim" in some way. You don't want to talk to the victim about the case because whatever you say can always be used against you in a court of law. You never want to make any representation or any contact with the police and talk to them about the case. You say, "You know what, I'm really sorry. My lawyer told me I can't talk to you." That way you blame the lawyer.
So, if you're charged with a crime of domestic violence, you want to get a lawyer immediately, not make any statements and have no negative contact with the alleged victim.
