A young man could spend several years behind bars for setting over fifty fires. News sources say that the 24-year-old suspect looked anxious and weak when he went before a Los Angeles judge last week.
According to the case brought against him, the young man faces 37 counts of felony arson. The fires were set over the New Year's Eve weekend across Los Angeles, California and had police and firemen scrambling around trying to stop them. It is uncertain as to why the young man appeared to be so wobbly in court last week. Perhaps it was the realization that the case against him is very strong.
His arraignment was pushed back and bail was set at $2.85 million. Most of the fires were set to carports and vehicles but also affected several properties as well. The damage caused by the fires is estimated to be around $3 million. The investigation against the man is still ongoing so additional charges could be brought against him at a later date.
