While online dating can be a fun way to meet people, it turned into a near-deadly experience for one woman.
Last week a court in Los Angeles, California heard the story about a 67-year-old defendant who assaulted his date from a popular dating website. He drove the woman home, followed her into the house and then sexually assaulted her. After reporting the incident, the man was arrested and charged with felony sexual battery by restraint.
However, the man copped a plea deal with the prosecution, which allowed him to receive a shorter sentence. In exchange for pleading no contest to the charge, the man was given one year behind bars. Once he is released from jail, he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, no matter where he resides in the country. In addition, he will have to complete one year of counseling for the sex crime he committed.
