Well Known Graffti Artist Accused of Probation Violation

A known graffiti artist was arrested last week on violation of probation charges.

Gristian Gheorghui, known on the street as "Smear," was arrested last week after deputies searched his home in East Hollywood. It was there that they discovered that Smear had violated his probation by possessing evidence of recent graffiti activity. However, LT. Vince Carter and the police department are remaining mum about the details, saying only that they have new information and found vandalism tools in his home.

During their search last week the authorities seized stickers, markers, art prints and a copy of a newspaper article about Smear as evidence of his probation. However, Peter Bibring, Smear's attorney, hopes to show that this is not evidence of anything but an interest in art.  In addition to this latest arrest Smear is being sued by the city to prevent him from making any profits on his street art work.
