Police in Tempe finally apprehended the young man who they believe is responsible for a home invasion robbery and
homicide in Los Angeles a year ago.
When police arrived at a home in Sherman Oaks on March 26 2009 they found Brian Thomas Caulfield, 31, handcuffed and shot several times. The young man died as a result of his injuries. His roommate at the time, 30-year-old Eric Gonzalez, was also discovered handcuffed in the apartment.
Police interviewed Gonzalez who said that three men who were posed as police officers came into the apartment. They claimed to be undercover and then proceeded to handcuff the two men. When Caulfield attempted to struggle against the restraints that is when the fake officers shot him.
Police finally realized that the man leading this team of fake officers was Daryl Anthony Sconiers. They apprehended him near Rural and Broadway Roads just last week. When he tried to show them a fake ID Sconiers realized that they were on to him and attempted to flee. Police pursued him on foot until they were able to detain him for good.
He is now being held at Tempe City Jail on the charge of possession of stolen goods and murder.
