Klay Thompson, best known for his position as Washington State's leading scorer, was recently arrested on charges of drug possession. The favored player was suspended from the Cougars' last game against UCLA, but was given a chance to speak to the crowd.
Thompson told them that he "would give anything to play today. I made a mistake. I apologize. I'm truly sorry." Rather than ostracize him the crowd roared, showing their approval of his humility. Some of his teammates even hugged him before the crowd, showing their support for the star guard.
Thompson was cited for marijuana possession just last week. He was forced to sit in street clothes and watch the game from the benches.
