Federal Agents Raid Two Medical Marijuana Facilities

Federal agents raided two medical marijuana dispensaries in West Hollywood this week leading to the arrest of one person.

The agents were joined by Los Angeles County deputies and Los Angeles Police Department officers in their raid of Alternative Herbal Health Services and Zen Healing located on Santa Monica Boulevard. These are two of the four dispensaries that have been given permission to operate in the West Hollywood area.

Further information about the raids is being withheld at this time, including who was in custody, what was seized or what led to the raids. The last time the DEA conducted raids in the West Hollywood area was back in 2007, according to The Times.

The lag in raid periods is due to a statement issued back in 2009 by the U.S. Justice Department that it would not investigate dispensaries in California, as long as they adhered to state and federal regulations. However, it is still illegal under federal law to use marijuana without a prescription.
