Christina Aguilera Jailed for Her Own Safety

Pop singer Christina Aguilera was taken to jail early Tuesday to "ensure her safety" after her boyfriend was pulled over for drunken driving. She was a passenger in the car driven by Matthew Rutler who was also taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
When police noticed the vehicle driving erratically around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning they pulled it over. The couple was driving in West Hollywood at the time. Officers booked Rutler on suspicion of DUI and held in custody since "no one was available to ensure her safety." The department stressed that she would soon be released once she could "safely care for herself." Yet they did add that Aguilera was being held in lieu of a $250 bail.
Her boyfriend, however, is being held on a $30,000 bail.
This drama all comes after Aguilera finalized her divorce from Jordan Bratman earlier this year.
