Officer Accused of White Collar Crimes

A former law enforcement official will find himself behind bars soon for committing various white collar crimes.
According to the Los Angeles County district attorney"s office, 56-year-old Joseph Dyer embezzled almost $500,000 in towing fees. These fees should have been directed to the city of La Puente, but instead they went into Dyer"s pocket for personal use. As the supervisor of the impound program, Dyer was in charge of collecting towing fees from La Puente residents. However, between the years 2001 and 2007, he took a large portion of the money for himself.
On April 7 Dyer pleaded no contest to a felony charge of public officer crime. His wife Lydia, cognizant of his actions, pleaded no contest to filing a false tax return; she was given 12 months probation as a result.
