Police Investigate Murderer Who Put Body in Suitcase

Police have their work cut out for them uncovering the truth behind Hassan Malik's confession this week. Although he is believed to be responsible formurdering Betty Williams, 28, and putting her body in a suitcase, the 55-year-old claims that she attempted to strangle him with an electric cord and hit him with a frying pan.
When a passerby rummaging through garbage found her partially-class body stuffed into a suitcase, he was Malik was brought in for questioning. He first told police that he arrived home to his apartment at 307 Pleasant Ave. in East Harlem to Williams' dead body. However, he quickly recanted, saying "he had lied about finding Ms. Williams dead" according to Detective William Dunn. He supposedly killed her in an act of self-defense after she started to attack him with the frying pan.
He is currently being held on a second-degree-murder charge in Tarrytown without bail; Malik's next court date is set for December 30.
