A man involved in the decades-old slaying of an 80-year-old woman in her own home will finally have his day in court. Dennis Vasquez, who was 17 in 1975, was finally discovered to be one of the men involved in the murder of Alice Lewis in her Venice home.
Cold-case detectives working on the case were finally able to match a DNA sample from the state's database to evidence collected at the crime scene so many years ago. However, Los Angeles police suspected that he had not acted alone and, upon interrogating him, discovered that his best friend at the time, who would have been 15-year-old Kevin Michael Shanahan, also contributed to the murder.
Vasquez is currently being held in the state of Minnesota until his extradition order goes through.
