After a long police hunt for the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident, the driver has finally turned himself in.
Robert E. Summers, 21, arrived at the Concord Police Department around 10 p.m. after learning that police were looking for the person responsible for killing 52-year-old Sherree Lindborg and her dog. A young woman accompanied Summers to the station and identified herself as the passenger in his vehicle at that time. He was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Lindborg had been walking her dog along Solano Way on Sunday and had stopped to take care of her dog when a vehicle struck her. The driver of that car, a seventeen-year-old boy, got out of the car to attend to her when another car hit her as she lay in the street. That person, who was later identified as Summers, drove away in a panic.
At this time police are still investigating his car and Summers has been released pending further investigation.
