Thanks to the three strikes law, a Riverside County man has found that he is currently in danger for facing a life sentence in jail after allegedly taking about $21 in merchandise from a local Home Depot.
According to his testimony, the 44-year-old man, Scott Hove, put both gloves and some wire into his waistband, but later removed it when he changed his mind. According to an employee at the store, however, he was stopped at the door.
Hove is now facing criminal charges for felony petty theft. With a record that includes seven separate visits to prison with burglary convictions as well as a conviction for selling methamphetamine, he is now facing 25 years to life for the crime.
