Law enforcement officials in the city of Santa Ana are reporting that an 81-year-old man has officially been charged with the murder of his 94-year-old roommate. The murder took place at a Southern California rehabilitation center where both individuals had been recovering from hip surgeries.
On Monday, prosecutors from the city reported that William McDougall became frustrated with his roommate, 94-year-old Manh Van Nguyen who had been singing in Vietnamese while residing in their room at the Palm Terrace Health Center.
McDougall allegedly took a metal rod from the closet of the road and hit his roommate several times on the head. The injuries Nguyen suffered were fatal and he later died.
Now, if McDougall is convicted, he will face 25 years to life in prison and for the October 1st assault.
