Facebook is to thank for the arrest of Robert Lewis Crose, 47, whose status updates tipped off police to his whereabouts. Crose, who jumped parole 12 years ago in California, was finally arrested in northern Montana when a fugitive task force received a tip that he was in the Cut Bank, Montana area.
Status updates complaining about the cold, winning $600 at Keno, and even a blatant mention of Cut Bank on his Facebook page led Sergeant Tom Siefert of Glacier County Sheriff's Office to the area. After circulating pictures of Crose around town, the sheriff was finally able to locate and arrest him at a casino.
Crose was originally convicted on 1996 charges of making terrorist threats and a gun violation when he used a sawed-off shotgun at his Ventura appliance store. For those charges he served less than a year in prison, however, he was to return to prison for a parole violation.
