This week, the Associated Press reported that a former gang prevention counselor was formally charged with raping a 15-year-old boy. Police say the rape occurred after the counselor approached the boy about doing community service.
The crime took place in Ashville, Tennessee and local police say that 22-year-old Rodney Britton was charged with several criminal offenses including rape, sexual battery and statutory rape. His criminal charges were revealed in a six count indictment from a Davidson County grand jury.
Officers say that Britton was employed with the Galaxy Star Drug Awareness and Gang Prevention Center and he was a ready facing federal racketeering charges. In June, Britton and 26 other people were indicted on charges of faking court-ordered community service work, racketeering, murder conspiracy and drug trafficking.
