On Wednesday, a man from Roseville was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) by the California Highway Patrol. According to the CHP, the man told troopers that he was texting his girlfriend while driving on Highway 99. As he was driving and texting, he traveled off of the road and his vehicle overturned, which prompted law enforcement to respond.
Police say that 25 year old Cameron Shannon was involved in his DUI accident at 8:33 AM. He did not suffer any injuries even though his vehicle rolled over several times before stopping in a nearby field.
Officers booked Shannon on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and he was held in Butte County Jail. Reports indicate that the initial paperwork filed by the CHP does not mention texting, but the accident is still being investigated.
