Police say that they found 200 marijuana plants inside the garage of a Granada Hills garage. Originally, Los Angeles Fire Department crews were called to the residence in response to a fire.
Fire Department spokesman Devin Gales said that firefighters were called to the home around 2:22 AM. When they arrived, they saw that the home's garage was filled with smoke, but there wasn't a fire. The firefighters waited at the scene for Los Angeles Police Department officers to arrive and investigate.
According to LAPD Sgt. Andy Whitman, officers found a "fairly expensive and sophisticated" marijuana growing system inside of the garage along with hundreds of plants. It was not clear whether anyone was living in the home and police are trying to figure out who is renting the place.
Whitman said that the grower of the plants is facing felony drug crime charges.
