Earlier this month a man accused of robbing and murdering a taxi cab driver was sentenced to the death penalty by a Riverside County judge.
Christopher Guy Jasso, 37, was convicted in December of first-degree murder, with special circumstances of committing murder during a robbery and using a firearm.
According to an article on ABC7.com, Jasso and another man decided to rob someone. When they couldn't find anyone to rob they decided they would rob a cab driver instead. Jasso called a cab posing as someone who needed a ride. When he got into the vehicle he shot the driver two times in the head and took his wallet. Jasso fled the vehicle with $80 and left the driver to die.
Jasso was sent to San Quentin Prison in Northern California to await his execution.
Fabian Perez, the other man involved in the crime, was also charged with first-degree murder. He is awaiting trial.
