A Banning man is facing several criminal charges following last week's police pursuit.
The pursuit began around 7:20 a.m. when police officers tried to stop the suspect's vehicle after noticing the registration tags were fake. The suspect was also driving erratically and police suspected he might be
driving under the influence.
The pursuit continued and the suspect eventually reached speeds of 90 mph in his attempt to evade police. The officers eventually found the vehicle parked on a Morongo Indian reservation and shortly after found the suspect hiding in an outbuilding with his passenger.
The suspect was identified as Michael Allen Leonard, 26. He was arrested and charged with evading a police officer, reckless driving, driving under the influence, providing false information to a peace officer, unauthorized possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a parolee at large.
His passenger was also arrested. She had an outstanding arrest for inflicting a corporal injury on a child.
