The Press Enterprise is reporting that deputies with the Riverside Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department are planning to step up their DUI enforcement efforts throughout the Super Bowl weekend.
America's favorite game day is famous for the amount of drunk driving that takes place, as many people spend all day drinking at bars and parties and then drive home. In anticipation of this, police and sheriff's deputies are planning to conduct roving patrols all weekend long in Lake Elsinore, Beaumont, Blythe, Canyon Lake, Coachella, La Quinta, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Palm Springs, Murrieta, Perris, Riverside, Temecula, and San Jacinto.
In fact, in a written statement, the Riverside Police Department said that on Super Bowl Sunday two years ago, 49% of the fatal accidents that occurred involved a driver with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more. And in California alone 11 people were killed and 133 people were injured in drunk driving accidents.
If you are planning to drink this weekend, make sure you designate a driver to stay sober. The last thing you want or need is to be arrested and charged with
DUI, or to be responsible for causing an accident that injures or kills another person. In the event that you are arrested on DUI charges, a
