Last week Riverside County sheriff’s deputies seized more than 500 items considered to be drug paraphernalia under a new ordinance that went into effect January 17
th.
Pursuant to the new ordinance, aptly titled “Sale of Drug Paraphernalia,” businesses are prohibited from selling any item deemed to be drug paraphernalia within Norco city limits.
Even though sheriff’s deputies warned several businesses about the ordinance back in December, four Norco business owners received citations for violating the ordinance. Sheriff’s seized more than 500 pipes, scales, roach clips, digital scales, balloons, storage concealing containers, and more.
The business that were cited include Hidden Humidor, Sign of the Times Tatoo, USA Tobacco, and Tobacco Leaf.
The ordinance was adopted by the Norco City Council and added to the Norco Municipal Code to protect and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the city’s residents, particularly young people.
