Two students fighting outside the First Lutheran High School in Sylmar resulted in the death of one and the arrest of another. Jin Su Lee, 19, died as a result of two blows to the head from his 17-year-old classmate, whose name cannot be revealed because of his age. However, reports do show that he is an exchange student from South Korea.
The younger man was taken into custody on suspicion of assault when the police arrived. An unidentified law enforcement source says that Lee probably started the fight that occurred during a physical education class on Tuesday around 2:50 PM. Police and emergency medical units were called when Lee collapsed due to a brain injury. He was rushed to Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and was later transferred to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Although the juvenile was taken to a detention center, Los Angeles County prosecutors are unlikely to file charges, according to one police source.
