Officers Find Cocaine Inside of Easter Eggs

Easter came early to officers at the Los Angeles International Airport last Tuesday when they discovered over 14 pounds of cocaine hid cleverly in pastel Easter eggs. The suspect, 23-year-old Esteban Galtes of Miami, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
When they originally questioned him while looking through his luggage, Galtes claimed that the candy eggs were for his two children. While much of the cocaine was in the eggs, most of it was found under a false cardboard bottom in his suitcases. Its street value is estimated to be around $100,000. He picked up the cocaine during a week-long trip to Colombia.
If he is found guilty of "importation of a controlled substance," he could receive a life prison sentence.
Although officers with ICE have seen many clever ways for drug traffickers to hide their bounties, Easter egg candies were a first for them.
