Los Angeles police were called to a home on Tuesday on reports that a man was holding his mother-in-law hostage. The standoff lasted for six hours before police with the Las Angeles Police Department were finally able to convince him to release her.
The incident started around 12:40 p.m. when police were called for a possibledomestic violence case at Cerritos Place in Hollywood. Sergeant Rudy Vidal said that members of the LAPD were in contact with the man throughout the day. Their efforts were successful when the suspect finally released his mother around 6:30 p.m. after which the suspect was detained. Police quickly discovered that he was unarmed and the woman was uninjured.
Since no other members were inside the home during the standoff, police are still unclear as to whether the suspect or the woman owns the home. Police are also withholding the suspect's name from press reports, only stating that he has been arrested on charges of making criminal threats.
