This Wednesday, it is reported that 44-year-old Greg Tatton had to appear in Sonoma County Superior Court for sentencing. The once well-known soccer coach was charged with having ongoing sexual encounters with a former 16-year-old player.
Back in July, Tatton pled no contest on nine felony counts of sexual misconduct. Originally, he had been charged with 26 felony counts for sex acts, which took place over the course of six months. At the time of the sex acts, the girl who was a member of his traveling soccer team was 15 and 16 years old. It is said that the two engaged in sexual activity repeatedly while on road trips and at locations in the Sonoma Valley.
There were suspicions surrounding Tatton for a while, but legal action was not taken until a therapist treating the girl filed a mandated report of child sexual abuse.
Earlier, Tatton had pled not guilty to all charges and if he was convicted he would've served 18 years in prison. Prior to his sentencing, he was freed on $150,000 bail and residing in Los Angeles while waiting for his trial. In a plea bargain, Tatton will have to serve one year in county jail and will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
